£11m project to create new jobs in Yorkshire!

Postby Nadaman on Mon Nov 30, 2009 3:03 pm

Leeds Council is to regenerate the housing market in Beeston Hill and Holbeck with an £11million project!

The homes that are currently there will be demolished to pave the way for 55 new homes, each with their own back garden! The council has apparently been trying to acquire all of the properties in this area since 2005 to get this project underway! They recently acquired the last of them!

The best news about this new project, minus the fact that it will regenerate a very run down area is that it is sure to create more than a few Yorkshire jobs! It is especially good news for those looking for construction jobs as these have somewhat slowed down since the whole recession started!

Obviously good news for those who are going to benefit from not only the jobs that will be created but mostly from the houses that are to be built.

Has taken a while though, but at least it's happening now.

Definately has taken ages to get the ball rolling with this one I must say! I had no idea things like this could take that long?

It is particularly good news for those in the construction industry, especially as they were hard hit by the credit crunch. Id imagine they must have quite a lot of work on at the moment with all the flood damage in Yorkshire, not that this is a good thing in itself though especially as so many people are going to be out of thier homes for christmas! Poor people! :-[

It is horrible. We are so lucky not to have been affected, can't imagine how those poor people feel. Let's hope it doesn't take as long for their homes to be fixed up as what it took to get this project off the ground. That would be really awful.

I'm sure those in the construction industry are grateful for whatever work they can get at the moment.

Tell me about it! We are all very lucky indeed to have not lost a job or be thrown out of our homes at christmas time! Its all so up in the air for these few people! It must be such a hard job to keep it together and carry on you know?

I have no idea how long it takes to be able to be back in your home after flood damage? I guess it would largely depend on the scale of the damage that was done? It must be extremely hard to get it all dried out and all that especially at this time of year as it is so cold and damp or even frosty!

I mean you have to wash and dry everything, get the property checked for structural damage and also get the electrics checked to make sure they are safe and the list goes on..... It must takes months!

Makes me want to cry just thinking about it. There is probably so much more that needs to be done that we don't even know about. I just hope these poor people are getting all the help they need to get back into their homes or get their homes back to the way it was as soon as possible.

There is of course never a good time for things like that to happen, but this is probably one of the worst times.
