John Terry to lose job as England Captain?

Postby Nadaman on Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:58 pm

Have you guys heard all the drama going on in the world of footy lately? Everywhere I look its there – John Terry and the alleged affair with a team mates Mrs!

They are all saying that although his job is guaranteed at Chelsea, it may not be a guarantee that he will keep his job as England Captain! What do you guys make of this?

Should jobs like this take into account moral behaviour as well as the skills which you have to do the job? I mean if you are acting on behalf of your country then you have to be a role model of some sort right?

It's very difficult to say one way or the other. Yes, he is England captain and so is considered a role model, but also has a right to a private life. Just like any of us.

Problem is they don't have that privacy and should after all this time know that nothing they do will remin private. Somehow it will get out and everyone will know about it and judge you. It's something that comes with the territory.

I don't feel that these guys should be used as role models, hardly anyone that is famous for any reason is worthy of being a role model. They seem to develop this idea that they can do what they want and get away with it just because they are famous. I think there should be repurcussions for their actions. But if you look at other sports stars or famous people they never really suffer the true repurcussions of their actions.

See this latest update! Capello is doing a great job as far as I am concerned by stripping Terry of the right to remain in the position he was in - I mean after that kind of disgrace why should he be allowed to keep the title of Captain?

No matter what we say - footballers will always be idolized by kids and therefore do need to show some signs of being morally intact! I mean the way they conduct themselves is bad enough but after something like this comes out, there have to be repercussions!

Now lets see how the rest of it all pans out - Will the new Captain be good and how will Terry and Bridge play together????

It's going to be difficult. Can't imagine they are going to be very comfortable with each other and how are the rest of the guys in the team going to feel?

After this has died down and there is some other scandal that has everyone talking will they reinstate him as captain?

Your right of course, there is nothing we can do about them being kids idols. Unfortunately though, these people do have the attitude that they are famous and have money, so they can do whatever they want. All the time thinking they won't be caught out, forgetting how many before them have already been found out.

Thats why Capello's style of leadership is so great! He isn't intimidated by what they do or how much they earn - he treats them all the same and does not really give any special treatment to any of the footballers on the squad! Its great! He must have shocked the hell out of Terry with the way he reacted, and rightly so in my opinion, How can you think you can get away with anything just because you have a special "celebrity" status.

Capello is definately the best man for the job in this case! Who else would have done so impeccably well! I love it hehe!

As for team morale - I am not sure how the others will react but I am sure Capello will do his thing and give them all a stern talking to about it all so they do not get out of hand! I mean imagine the consequences of that with him in charge haha! Poor fellas!

Not poor at all. They need someone who will not be intimidated and will hand out the punishment necessary when it is needed. All this kid glove treatment of these guys is what has made them what they are in the first place.

People treat them differently because they can play football, so what. Being able to kick a ball around is not going to save anybody's life as far as I know.

Let's hope he sticks around for a while and can pull some more of them back in line.

I definitely hope so Jenni! The last thing we need is him going and things returning to what they were! He is good for the industry and keeping the players grounded which i think is something that has been needed for some time now!

People like hm are what football needs - at the end of the day these guys are role models for kids and shopuld have some boundaries if they are to be in the public limelight all the time!
