Harewood House

Designed by John Carr and completed in 1772, Harewood House features exquisite interiors by Robert Adam, was furnished throughout by Thomas Chippendale, and contains world-class art collections.

Steeped in history, Royal Family memorabilia recalls Lord Harewood’s mother, HRH Princess Mary, Princess Royal, who lived at Harewood from 1929 until her death in 1965.

Harewood HouseHarewood’s Gardens are amongst the most beautiful in the country, plants from across the world thrive in these wonderful historic surroundings. The restored elaborate Victorian Terrace has intricate flowerbeds and colourful herbaceous borders. The Lakeside Walk leads to the newly developed Himalayan Garden with its cascading waterfall and adjacent is the Harewood Stupa, the only Bhutanese Stupa in Western Europe.

Home to over one hundred rare and exotic species, Harewood’s Bird Garden works closely with UK and overseas collections in captive breeding some of the world’s most endangered creatures. Penguins, owls, flamingos and parrots are among the birds that live in this magnificent lakeside setting.
