The Royal Armouries was moved to Leeds from its former home at the Tower of London in 1996, and is Britain’s national collection of arms and armour.

There is usually so much on, you will need a full day to see it all, the events that are scheduled throughout the day, actually change from day to day, so if you go again, you should see something new.

Sword Fight

There is a nice restaurant on site that is not too expensive, and plenty of craft activities to take part in. The real highlight of the experience is the live activities, it’s fantastic to actually see some of the weapons in use with fighting demonstrations throughout the day.

This really is a great family day out, there is something for everyone, and you’ll be hard pushed to fit everything into just one day.

Entry is free, with some events costing a few pounds, but this is excellent value for money. You can even buy a full suit of armour in the on-site shop – make sure you bring your chequebook!

Visit the Royal Armouries website for up to date events, there is always something new to see.
